Pair of carved wooden bookends decorated with two stylized bears, French folk art in the Black Forest style, from the Art Deco period.

Each bookend features a bear carved in the round, resting on a solid wood base.

Each piece bears a signature (see photos).

The geometric design, simplified forms, and clean lines strongly evoke the Art Deco style, likely dating from around the 1920s to the 1940s.

Condition: Sold as-is, in good condition, with a lovely patina, no damage (see photos).

Beautiful antique patina, with a few minor signs of wear consistent with the set’s age.
