19th-century Dutch Oak Wardrobe, Netherlands, Mid-19th Century
A mid-19th-century Dutch oak cabinet featuring an elegant base with a scalloped front and three drawers. The side posts, cut at a 45-degree angle, are projecting and finely carved. The first drawer is fitted with a cutlery tray. The upper section consists of two paneled doors with carved frames and turned half-column stiles, embellished with gilded bronze bases and capitals. The cornice, which is scalloped and decorated with a central carving of a floral basket and leaves, adds a distinctive touch. The upper vents, made of embossed and gilded sheet metal, and the lower ones, crafted like the handles, complete the refined design of this historic piece of furniture.
