French Empire Style Gilt Brass Bouillotte Table Lamp, Circa 1930

Description :

Elegant French Empire-style bouillotte table lamp, dating from the first half of the 20th century, circa 1930, featuring richly detailed gilt brass ornamentation and a beautifully contrasting dark green painted metal shade.

Inspired by the decorative vocabulary of the French First Empire, this refined lamp is crowned by a finely detailed imperial eagle with outstretched wings, accompanied by a decorative arrow-shaped element, both characteristic of Napoleonic symbolism.

The central brass column supports three gracefully curved candle-style light arms, embellished with finely cast foliate scrolls, rosettes and classical motifs. Each arm terminates in an ornamental candleholder fitted with an electric candle socket.

The circular brass base incorporates a shallow dished tray, decorated with delicate engraved and chased ornamental borders, providing both visual balance and an elegant finishing detail.

The distinctive dark green painted metal shade features a continuous gilt laurel-leaf garland, a classical decorative motif closely associated with the Empire style. Its warm golden interior beautifully complements the brass structure and enhances the lamp’s refined appearance.

Combining classical French elegance with decorative sophistication, this charming bouillotte lamp would make an attractive addition to a library, study, living room or traditional interior.

The lamp displays signs of age and use consistent with its period, contributing to its authentic vintage character.
