Antique Kimono-kake Or Kimono Rack, Qing Dynasty, Late 19th Century

Large clothing display stand from Northern China, late 19th century, toward the end of the Qing Dynasty.
Made of elm wood and coated with a deep red lacquer that still reveals the wood grain, this display stand was traditionally used to display large garments and dragon robes, and could also be used as a kimono stand.
The stand was constructed in the classic late Qing Dynasty style, featuring elaborate carvings. Two phoenix-head finials with scroll-shaped brackets were placed at both ends.
Red lacquered wood with rich carved and openwork decoration featuring phoenixes, rats, birds, and flowering branches.
The two side rails are adorned with two decorative plaques carved with the poems “Qīng yuán zhú xiāng shēng chù” and “Xǐ jiàn hóng méi duō jié zǐ.”
Four-legged base decorated with guardian lion heads.
