Antique Bedstead Made Of Embossed And Openwork Brass, With A Turned Metal Handle. 17th Century

A beautiful antique brass basin with finely chiseled and repoussé decoration, adorned with engraved decorative motifs and openwork friezes. The circular basin features rich geometric and ornamental decoration, with a border crafted from small perforated motifs.

It features a long, weathered wooden handle, accented with a brass inlay and topped with a carved knob. The junction between the handle and the basin is also decorated.

The bedwarmer was once used to warm beds before bedtime by placing embers in a specially designed container.

This piece bears witness to the craftsmanship of metalworkers of yesteryear and today serves as a beautiful decorative item for a period-style interior, a collection of mantelpieces, or a cabinet of curiosities.
