Gilt Brass Photo Frame With Engraved Striations. French Work. Circa 1970
This photo frame presents a wide gilt brass border animated by registers of fine vertical engraved striations, alternating with polished reserves that catch the light. The rectangular window, protected by glass, accommodates a portrait-format photograph; an easel at the back ensures a stable presentation on a piece of furniture.
This decoration of engraved striations, sober and rhythmic, is characteristic of gilt brass table objects of the 1970s, a period when the home arts declined gilt metal in purified geometric lines, in the spirit of Italian and French creations of the Neoclassical taste.
Condition report: Good general condition. Even and luminous gilding. A refined object that dresses a console, an office or a bedside table.
