Gilded Wooden Mirror In The Baroque Style

A charming small mirror made of carved and gilded wood in the Baroque style, dating from the first half of the 20th century. With an elegant and decorative design, it stands out for the richness of its ornamentation, inspired by Italian and French models from the 17th and 18th centuries.

The beveled mirror is framed by two remarkable caryatids depicting winged fauns, rendered in sculpted detail, supporting a dynamic entablature. The pediment is dominated by a powerful crowned lion’s head—a symbol of authority and majesty—surrounded by volutes and finely crafted rocaille ornaments.

The gilding has a pleasant patina of age, with some wear and chips revealing the underlying base metal, lending the piece great character and authenticity. The beveled mirror adds to the elegance of this particularly decorative piece.
