About: Jean Lambert-Rucki was a painter and sculptor born on September 17, 1888, in Kraków (Poland)
He became a naturalized French citizen after World War I
In February 1911, he moved to PARIS and enrolled at the Colarossi Academy, where he associated with artists such as Modigliani, Soutine, Marc Chagall, and Fernand Léger.
Between 1920 and 1940, he worked for Jean Dunand
In 1927, he married Léonie Bickel (1892–1975), the daughter of sculptor Victor Émile Bickel (1865–1937).
Initially drawn to Cubism, he turned to Surrealism in the 1930s. In 1931, he joined the Union of Modern Artists, and in 1936.
He died on July 29, 1967, in Paris
