DAUM NANCY – Mushroom Vase, circa 1907

A rare, multi-layered blown-and-molded glass vase by Daum Nancy, cylindrical in shape with two large handles applied while hot. The lower section features an elegant hammered finish, adding texture and depth to the material.

A beautiful naturalistic design of polychrome mushrooms in a forest glade, featuring red-capped amanitas, brown mushrooms, and a remarkable green mushroom, accompanied by grasses and forest vegetation.

The design stands out against a superb marbled yellow-orange background, with shades of gray, brown, and ochre. It is created using acid etching, refined with a graver, and accented with polychrome enamels, creating beautiful effects of depth and texture.

This vase belongs to Daum Nancy’s famous “Mushrooms” series, several variations of which are included in the collections of the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy.
