Antique Painting Landscape With Figures Oil On Canvas Netherlands '700
Oil on canvas. 18th-century Dutch school.
The painting was previously attributed to the painter and engraver Pieter de Molijn (1595–1661), whom contemporary art historians consider one of the founders of what is known as the “tonal phase” of Dutch landscape painting, an artistic movement born out of the need to depict the local landscape in a more realistic and evocative manner, moving beyond the rigid and artificial conventions of earlier Flemish painting.
