Antique Christofle 10 Piece French Serving Service, 950 Silver Handles, 19th Century

A superb  and complete 19th century French ten-piece serving service by Christofle, presented in its original fitted case.

The richly decorated handles are in solid silver, struck with the French Minerva Premier Titre hallmark for 950/1000 silver. They are substantial and beautifully worked, with elaborate foliate and scroll decoration in high relief.

The service comprises ten different specialised serving implements, including a large knife and fork, fish servers, pierced serving pieces, spoons, forks and other table servers. Several of the working parts are marked CHRISTOFLE.

The original fitted case retains its attractive burgundy velvet and silk interior and bears the name of the Nîmes retailer Remézy-Viala. The firm traded as Au Raisin d'Or, bijouterie-horlogerie, at 9 Place du Marché, Nîmes.

A wonderful and unusually extensive 19th century French serving service, combining the quality of Christofle with impressive Minerva Premier Titre silver handles.
