An important, large-scale oil painting on canvas, dating from the 17th century, depicting the Martyrdom of Saint Sebastian. The saint, on the left, is tied to a tree: his arms hang from the branches, his legs are bound by a chain, and his body—covered only by a white drapery—is pierced by arrows. On the right, a group of soldiers in ancient-style armor—wearing breastplates, lamellar kirtles, and red boots—stands in a semicircle.
