Each sconce is centred on a parrot in cut moulded glass, set on a faceted horn dressed in mirror and finishing in a gilt shell base. On either side, two gilt brass light arms unfurl in foliate scrolls enhanced with crystal flowerets and faceted drops, each receiving a bobèche with a scalloped collar and a drip-effect candle sleeve.
The crystal bird against a mirrored ground is one of the most famous motifs of Maison Baguès, the great Parisian house of gilt bronze and brass lighting whose creations, prized from the inter-war years onwards, embody the Neoclassical taste.
