Brendel "trifolium" Educational Botanical Model, Circa 1900

An educational botanical model depicting a clover flower (Trifolium) greatly enlarged to illustrate its structure. The flower is shown in cross-section and in various stages of development, with the different floral parts sculpted and polychromed. The entire piece is mounted on a black stem with a turned support and a circular, blackened wooden base. The original label bears the designation “Trifolium,” and the base retains the retailer’s label: “Maris Streicher, Instrumenten, Nijmegen.” Work attributable to R. Brendel Co., a German manufacturer of botanical models intended for educational purposes.
