Nantes-style Chest Of Drawers In Solid Mahogany, Louis XV Period

A beautiful Louis XV chest of drawers made of solid mahogany, with a curved front and three drawers arranged in three rows. It rests on four scroll-shaped legs; the lower rails are scalloped and adorned with a delicate half-round molding, the top is molded with a corbin spout, and the paneling is made of oak. It retains its original bronze fittings as well as its iron box locks with a key.
Extremely rare, it bears eight hallmarks from the 1722 Nantes guild on the drawer fronts.
Dated to the first half of the 18th century.
In very good condition; conservative restoration carried out by an experienced cabinetmaker; wax finish.
The Nantes Guild hallmark was an iron mark consisting of a half-hermine of Brittany and a half-fleur-de-lis of France; five different Guild hallmarks have been recorded on Nantes furniture, bearing the dates 1722, 1767, 1770 within a circle, 1776 within an oval, and 1787 within an irregular octagon.
