Artist: Sergio Carlos Signori (1906-1988).
An Italian painter born in Milan, Serge Sigor fled the Fascist regime and sought refuge in Paris, where he became a student and close associate of André Lhote and many other renowned artists.
His body of work, largely destroyed by the Gestapo, is rare, especially since, after the Liberation, he devoted himself primarily—and successfully—to sculpture, which he practiced until his death.
This beautiful painting, in its Montparnasse frame, is signed in the lower left corner.
