Bust Of "psyche" In Patinated Bronze, By Boyer And Rolland
A patinated bronze bust of Psyche by the foundry Boyer et Rolland. This bust depicts a young woman with butterfly wings in her hair, her head turned toward an insect perched on her shoulder. The small butterfly likely represents the god of Love. It was cast using the sand casting method in the workshops of Boyer and Rolland, the foundry whose mark appears on the back of the bust. On the side, it is marked “Mm Léon Bertaux,” the foundry worker’s mark. The sculpture rests on a red marble pedestal set atop a black rectangular base.
