Pair Of Gilt Metal Chandeliers With Foliage And Coloured Glass Grape Clusters, Four Arms. Itali
Each chandelier is organised around a central gilt metal shaft chased in the form of a tulip bud, from which radiate three light arms in scrolls adorned with cut and repoussé acanthus leaves. Grape clusters in green, amber and translucent coloured glass, accompanied by crystal florets, punctuate the arms and the base, animating the light with delicate reflections. The whole is suspended by a gilt chain ending in a foliate ceiling rose.
This work of gilt tole shaped into foliage, embellished with glass fruits, is typical of the Italian workshops of the 1950s, in the great Florentine tradition of gilt metal, which then rivalled the Parisian productions of the houses of Baguès and Jansen in invention.
Condition report: Good overall condition. Original gilding with a warm patina, glass clusters and florets well present, old faux candles. A pair full of charm for an entrance hall, a corridor or on either side of an alcove.
