Superb Regency-Period Chest of Drawers, Inlaid with Violetwood, stamped Jean-Mathieu CHEVALLIER.
This chest of drawers, curved on all sides, opens at the front with three drawers in three rows and is topped with a lovely, molded Breccia marble top that follows the curves of the chest. It features rich marquetry work, arranged in scrolls and herringbone patterns. Its side panels are rounded. Beautiful gilded and chiseled bronze ornamentation, including feet, lock plates, and a finial. Beautifully finished, comes with two keys. Stamped on the side panel: J.M. CHEVALLIER.
