Wooden Frame With Gold-leafed Stucco Moldings For A Painting, 20 Cm X 27 Cm
A very beautiful 19th-century fluted frame, made of wood and stucco, retaining beautiful gold leaf gilding.
The particularly rich molding consists of wide, fluted channels, accented at the corners with acanthus leaves, and highlighted by beaded friezes and fine ornamental moldings. The piece as a whole exhibits beautiful depth and an elegant patina of antique gilding.
The reverse retains its original wooden structure, its joints and reinforcements, as well as several antique stencil marks visible in the photographs.
