Marcel André Bouraine (1886–1948)
A French sculptor, he studied under Alexandre Falguière and worked in Auguste Rodin’s studio.
An iconic figure of Art Deco, he became a member of the Société des artistes français and participated in the Salon d’Automne.
In 1927, he presented the sculpture “Penthesilea, Queen of the Amazons” there.
She is depicted here nude, athletic, in a shooting stance, holding a shield and a spear.
Signed “Bouraine” on the back, on the terrace.
