Oval Drum Table In Rosewood Veneer - 18th-century Transition Period

A refined and elegant small oval "flying" table or chiffonnière, from the Transition period (circa 1765–1775).

Its leg and apron are entirely covered with an elegant rosewood veneer arranged in horizontal strips.

It rests on four slightly arched legs, characteristic of the transitional period between the Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. The upper edges of the legs feature the clean, elegant step typical of this style. The legs terminate in discreet bronze feet.

The top is crowned with a beautiful gray-green marble veined with white, set within an original openwork brass frame.

The front features a curved drawer that provides discreet storage space, thus preserving the design of the front panel. The bronze lock is functional.

An oval crossbar, also veneered in rosewood, connects the legs, providing additional storage space and reinforcing the table’s stability.
