Claude Fauchet, born in 1530 and died in 1602, was a French magistrate, humanist, and historian. He accompanied Cardinal de Tournon to Italy (1550–1554). He served as first president of the Court of the Mint and was appointed historiographer of France by Henry IV. He was one of the first to devote himself to collecting ancient chronicles and works by early French authors.
