A charming pair of small Italian Rocaille-style mirrors made of carved and gilded wood.
They feature a design of grape clusters and vine tendrils, ears of wheat, and acanthus leaves.
The mirrors were replaced at a later date.
The gilding is done using the “à la mecca” technique, a typically Italian method that involves applying silver leaf followed by a gold varnish, which evaporates over time, leaving a beautiful patina!
