Antique Vulcan forging intaglio ring in 18 karat gold. Ring adorned with a rounded square banded agate intaglio. The stone, of a translucent reddish-orange hue, is secured in a smooth bezel setting. The shank splits into two slender branches at the shoulders to support the setting. The intaglio depicts the god Hephaestus (Vulcan) in his forge, standing beside an anvil and forging the arrows of Eros (Cupid), who flies by his side. 19th-century ring.
