Saber of the King's Bodyguards, 1st model, 1814. Gilded brass guard, 4 prongs, shell bearing the coat of arms of France, crown, etc. Plate signed “Versaille,” BB hallmarks; hollow-ground blade; back marked “Manufacture Royale de Klingenthal, September 1814.” On one side: fleurs-de-lis, a trophy, and the King’s bodyguard; on the other: a sun and a trophy. BB hallmark for Bick and Borson. Wooden grip with shagreen and double silver filigree. Leather scabbard with gilded bronze fittings bearing hallmarks.
