Charles CHEVALLIER -
Son of Mathieu Chevalier, a master cabinetmaker residing in the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, near Rue Saint-Nicolas, Charles was born in 1703. He was the youngest of his three brothers—Jean-Baptiste I, Jean-François, and Jean-Mathieu I (all cabinetmakers)—and his four sisters.
Charles expanded the cabinetmaking business founded by his father and built up by his brothers over the years. Like his brother, Charles crafted furniture in the latest style, as the inventory lists a “chest of drawers and matching corner cabinets in the antique style with Aleppo breccia marble.”
