Baignol & Farjon Pen Nib Store Display Case, Circa 1900
Artist: Baignol & Farjon
“To each his own pen”—that’s the message conveyed by this superb presentation box of “Baïonnette” pen nibs from Bagnol & Farjon. Inside, there are two compartments: the first contains a loose assortment of small metal boxes, while at the back, 72 boxes are neatly arranged and labeled with their numbers. The inside of the lid features a plate with all the different nibs displayed for visual reference; it also mentions two awards won in 1897 and 1900, so this box is believed to date from the very early 20th century. On the top of the lid, in a trompe l’œil effect, is a giant “Baïonette” pen.
