Nevers – 2 18th-century Plates.
1) A plate with scalloped edges made of earthenware, featuring a polychrome decoration of a landscape and a figure carrying a tool over his shoulder, in the center. Floral decoration on the rim.

2) a round “parlante” plate made of polychrome earthenware in the shape of a skullcap, dated 1759 with the following text:
“Long live the skullcap”
“This fine regiment”
“Oh, may the marotte”
“bring us joy”
“1759”
These verses celebrate the famous Regiment de la Calotte, a festive, carnivalesque, and highly satirical society founded in 1702 during the reign of Louis XIV.
Chipped enamel and missing enamel on the wing.
