Richly Carved Ceremonial Piece Of Furniture – White Marble Hinged Top – 19th Century
Richly carved ceremonial piece of furniture – White marble drop-leaf top – 19th century
A very beautiful ceremonial piece of furniture made of richly carved and molded wood, featuring a particularly decorative design inspired by Renaissance furniture.
The upper portion of the front features two drawers, adorned with relief carvings and fitted with beautiful drop handles in bronze.
The central section features two doors richly carved with broad scrollwork and foliage motifs, framed by architecturally styled posts.
The sides are particularly remarkable for the presence of two female figures carved as caryatids, resting on consoles with foliage decoration.
The piece rests on two substantial turned legs at the front and features a large open shelf in its lower section, giving the entire piece a silhouette that is both elegant and imposing.
An interesting feature is that the top panel lifts open to reveal a white marble surface, allowing the raised panel to serve as an additional shelf or display surface.
Beautiful quality of cabinetmaking and carving, with a warm patina that particularly highlights the various reliefs and the wood’s grain.
A decorative piece with character, ideal for a period interior, a library, a cabinet of curiosities, or as a display piece.
