The Floral Still Life with Carnations antique painting presented here is a beautiful oil on canvas painting from the early 20th century, Art Déco.

The antique painting is presented in a carved and lacquered wooden Montparnasse-style frame, dating from the early 20th century.

The composition features a rich bouquet of cut flowers arranged inside a small decorative vase.

The bouquet is dominated by carnations in shades of red, pink and white.

The pictorial style, associated with Art Déco and Post-Impressionist taste, is distinguished by its colour balance, the softness of the brushstrokes,

and the attention given to the textural rendering of the petals and foliage. French painting from the 1930s.

Maurice Alfred Decamps (1892-1953) was born in Paris and painted landscapes, but above all flowers.

His teacher was Pierre Montézin and, from 1913 onwards, he began exhibiting his works at the “Salon des Artistes Français” in Paris.

Throughout his career, he received numerous prizes and honourable mentions. In 1926 he received the “Prix de la Savoie”, followed in 1927 by

the “Société des Paysagistes” prize, in 1929 by the “Raigecourt-Goyon” prize and finally, in 1938, by the “Justin Claverie” prize.

The antique frame and oil painting have been carefully and professionally restored. 1930s.
