E. Chouanard Drawing Table

Late 19th-century drafting table / architect's table with an adjustable system.
The tabletop can be fully tilted and slid from right to left using two slide mechanisms adjustable via wing nuts. The central, barrel-shaped leg contains a rack and pinion mechanism that allows for height adjustment.
The "X"-shaped base is equipped with four casters and two counterweights attached underneath.
The tabletop is made of rosewood; the barrel and base are made of walnut.
A plaque on top of the rack reads: “Table Soleil System G. Gay Patented SGDG, E. CHOUANARD, Engineer, Sole Distributor.”
In very good overall condition; all mechanisms are functional.
Note that the tabletop originally had a hinged edge; currently, only two parts of the hinge remain (see photos). There is a tiny chip on the tabletop that is barely visible in an overall view.
