​louis XIV-style Desk-chest, Designed By Maison Jansen

A rare chest of drawers that converts into a writing desk, dating from the mid-20th century and crafted in the purest Louis XIV style. A stately piece of furniture of superb craftsmanship, reminiscent of the works of the greatest Parisian interior design houses, such as Jansen.
​This chest stands out for its marquetry, which alternates vibrant, iridescent amber burl with wide bands of light wood accented by dark stripes and thin bone inlays, creating a geometric contrast on all sides.​The front features a faux six-drawer configuration and opens to reveal three drawers mounted on oak and a door that reveals a walnut interior.
​Each drawer is adorned with gilded and chiseled bronze ornamentation: pull handles shaped like neoclassical drapery and lock plates featuring satyr masks or foliage motifs, emblematic of the Louis XIV style.​Functionality: The top panel is hinged and folds down to reveal a beautiful work surface covered in black leather adorned with a gilded vignette featuring small ironwork details.

In very good condition, with a few minor scratches from normal use on the top
