Large Chapel Pew Made Of Solid Oak, Carved And Openwork With Crosses And Fleurs-de-lis
An exceptional, large solid oak bench dating from the early 19th century, remarkable both for its generous proportions and the quality of its decoration.
Measuring an exceptional 2.45 meters in length, this solid oak bench comes from a private chapel, which lends it particular historical significance. Its openwork decoration features, in particular, beautiful fleur-de-lis carved on the side panels—a symbol traditionally associated with the French monarchy. This provenance and ornamentation reinforce the prestigious and unique character of this antique piece.
The structure, made entirely of solid oak, boasts a beautiful, warm antique patina. The backrest, simple and elegant, is punctuated by long horizontal crossbars and ends on each side with superb armrests featuring rounded, scroll-like shapes, lending the piece a great deal of character.
Beneath the long seat runs a very pretty carved and openwork frieze, composed of a regular succession of quatrefoil motifs.
A spectacular and rare piece, measuring 2.45 meters—steeped in history—that will naturally find its place in a grand entrance hall, a chapel, a castle, a historic residence, a country house, or even a prestigious establishment.
In good overall condition for its age, with normal signs of wear that contribute to its authenticity and beautiful antique patina.
Length: 245 cm.
