Artist: Alessandro Mazzucotelli 1865-1938
2 Large wrought-iron wall sconces whose central element evokes a fantastical creature with stylized features—a chimera or a winged dragon.
The body is hammered to mimic scales; the wings spreading out on either side of the body are also crafted to give the impression of movement.
Each creature holds candle holders in its claws.

Work in the style of Alessandro Mazzucotelli (1865–1938), the famous Italian metalworker and a leading figure of the Liberty style—Italian Art Nouveau.
He settled in Milan, where, beginning in the late 19th century, he developed a highly personal style characterized by plant, animal, and fantastical forms, free-flowing volutes, and particularly expressive ironwork.
He played an active role in the development of the Liberty style and created numerous railings, balustrades, balconies, light fixtures, and decorative elements for prestigious palaces and buildings.
