Wall-mounted Mirror In Carved And Gilded Wood, Piedmont, Mid-18th Century
Wall-mounted mirror made of carved and gilded linden wood, featuring a rectangular frame that houses the central mirror, surrounded by a border of small mirrors. The carved moldings are decorated with gilded flowers, while the apron features volutes and leaf-shaped scrolls. The sides are embellished with volutes and floral clusters, with rocaille feet. The complex and detailed cornice consists of shells, curls, and rocaille corbels. This mirror, crafted in Turin during the 18th century, represents a refined fusion of Baroque and Rococo styles. Similar examples are preserved in the Savoy residences, such as the Stupinigi hunting lodge.
