Pair of seascapes, probably in Brittany, by Maurice Proust, a painter and decorator born in Paris in 1867 who died in Montigny-sur-Loing in 1944.
Both paintings are signed at the bottom right.
Good overall condition.
Period patinated wood frames, dating from the 1930s (showing signs of wear).
Painting dimensions : 39.7 x 19 cm.
Frame dimensions : 50.5 x 30 cm and 50.5 x 29 cm.
Maurice Proust was a painter, decorator, and assistant set designer for French state theaters, notably the Comédie-Française. He left his mark on art history through his memorable decorative compositions for the *Palais du Costume* at the World's Fair. His works bear witness to his artistic mastery.
