Colored Pencil Set With A Painted Olive Wood Lid—a Souvenir From Nice
Typical of the French Riviera, these small olive wood objects, embellished with floral paintings featuring mimosa and violets, were a "must-have" souvenir to bring back from a trip to the Riviera at the turn of the last century. Here is a small cardboard box for colored pencils covered with a painted olive wood lid and marked “Nice.” On the back, the following paper label is still visible: Galerie des Souvenirs – Maison Baudoin – 17 Avenue de la Victoire, Nice. A rather rare souvenir, as it is fragile and was once a common item.
