Important Two-piece Louis XV-era Sideboard In Walnut

An important two-part walnut sideboard, beautifully proportioned, dating from the 18th century.

The lower section opens with four doors and four drawers arranged in a band.

The upper section, set slightly back, features four panels with molded and scalloped frames, revealing several levels of shelves.

The front is punctuated by paneled sections, molded stiles, and a wide projecting cornice.

The scalloped lower crossbar rests on small, curved feet.

The drawers are fitted with drooping iron handles, while the doors retain their long keyholes and metal latches.

The walnut features a beautiful, warm, and nuanced patina, with particularly expressive grain on certain panels.

With its large dimensions, architecture, and molded decoration, this piece follows in the tradition of the grand regional sideboards in the Louis XV style of the 18th century.
