A beautiful wildlife scene depicting two woodcocks in their natural habitat among wild grasses, rendered with the finesse and sensitivity characteristic of the artist, a renowned specialist in 20th-century British wildlife and hunting engravings.
Henry Wilkinson RE, son of the painter Henry Robinson Wilkinson, trained at the Royal College of Art and later under the renowned animal printmaker George Vernon Stokes. A member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, he headed the printmaking department at the City and Guilds of London Art School for many years.
He produced all of his limited editions himself, from design to printing, including his own inks.
