Louis XVI-style Side Table. 19th Century.

Louis XVI-style side table, 19th century, cylindrical in shape, made of mahogany veneer and resting on 8 legs.
Top: a circular top of black-lacquered wood (likely replacing a marble top) surrounded by a band consisting of a double brass strip—one narrow, unadorned, and very simple; the other wider, featuring Greek-style interlaced motifs (interlaced motifs that elegantly highlight the contours).
It rests on eight blue-lacquered columns, each wrapped in a decorative bronze garland featuring plant motifs; at the base, these columns are joined by an octolobed wooden tray that lends grace, movement, and lightness to the entire piece. Beneath the top, the columns give way to slightly curved legs that end in bronze feet shaped like foliage. 
Underneath the tabletop is an original label indicating where this type of small furniture was sold: “Tapis Meubles Cuivres Tehran, 104 rue Michelet, Algiers” (now rue Didouche-Mourad)
