Artist: Garcia Juan José 1893-1962
Art Deco-style metal panel dated 1919. Juan José was one of the most refined artists on the Madrid art scene between 1918 and 1936. His work, which focused on metalwork in general and ironwork in particular, demonstrates exceptional technical skill and an aesthetic that evolved from historicism to Art Deco.He also created the silver case for the 1931 Spanish Constitution, inv. no. AD-A-152, housed at the Academy. Bibliography of the original:
