This bronze statue depicts the infant Buddha, dressed only in a short loincloth, standing on a double base shaped like a blooming lotus flower, pointing one index finger toward the sky and the other toward the earth.
According to legend, shortly after his birth, Prince Siddhartha (the future Buddha) took seven steps and pointed one index finger toward the sky and the other toward the earth. This gesture illustrates his famous declaration: “Between Heaven and Earth, I am the only Venerable One.”
