Pietro Bardoscia - Mask, Portrait Of A Man
Artist: Pietro Bardoscia (attivo Prima Metà Xx Secolo A Galatine, Lecce E A Roma)
PIETRO BARDOSCIA was the eldest of nine children.
He graduated from the Gioacchino Toma Royal School of Art in Galatina (Le) in 1905–06; he was a sculptor and teacher at the International Academy in Cairo (source "The Royal 'Gioacchino Toma' School of Art in Galatina—Felice le Montieri—Florence MCMXLII.II.XX).
In 1906, he created a plaster bust of Alessandro Tommaso Arcudi, which is preserved at the Pietro Cavoti Municipal Museum in Galatina (Pietro Cavoli Municipal Museum, Editrice Salentina, November 2003, edited by Domenica Specchia).
In his hometown, he created several works that are still on display in various buildings.
He participated in the Venice Biennale.
In 1956, after about 25 years, he was forced by the Egyptian government’s nationalization policy and the confiscation of European-owned property to return to Italy, where he decided to settle in Rome, where he lived until his death.
