Female Figurine – Bembé, Congo, Africa
A Bembé wooden statuette with a light brown patina. It features a high-set head with a strong, forward-projecting chin, elongated eyes, and a compact posture, set on powerful legs with bent knees. The body is engraved with numerous geometric scarifications. In her hands, she holds a gourd in one hand and a scepter in the other.
