Louis XV-style All-sided Ornamental Planter, Napoleon III Period
Very large and rare ceremonial planter, open on all sides, featuring floral marquetry and gilded bronze in the Louis XV style, dating from the late 19th century.
Richly adorned with gilded, chiseled bronze; the four corners feature espagnolette locks, with frames on all four sides, a design of draped curtains with bows, and the four legs ending in lion’s paws.
Rosewood and mahogany with various types of fruitwood used for the floral marquetry (lemon, plum, etc.).
The interior is made of original zinc, designed to hold shrubs, orchids, and the like.
