Mahogany Drop-top Desk – Louis XVI Period

Elegant Louis XVI-period drop-top secretary, crafted from flamed mahogany and topped with a black-lacquered wood top. Its understated and perfectly balanced lines, characteristic of late 18th-century neoclassical taste, are highlighted by fine cabinetmaking and original brass hardware.

The front features an upper drawer, a drop-down flap serving as a writing surface, and two large drawers in the lower section. The drop-down flap reveals an interior comprising storage compartments, six small drawers, and a central area, providing a functional and elegant workspace. The writing surface is upholstered in leather.

The fluted legs, the drooping brass handles, the diamond-shaped keyholes, and the central lock emphasize the refined simplicity characteristic of the Louis XVI style. The black-lacquered wooden top, which extends slightly beyond the sides, adds an extra touch of distinction.

The piece rests on tapered legs finished with small brass feet.
