This voyage undertaken by Dumont d’Urville aboard the corvette *l’Astrolabe* between 1826 and 1829 was the most significant French expedition ordered by the government between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. Leaving Toulon on April 25, 1826, after a long voyage and several stops that took her as far as Australia and then New Zealand, she returned to Marseille on February 24, 1829.
