A magnificent plaster sculpture by Jean Baptiste Carpeaux.
Exhibited at the 1874 Salon, *L'Amour blessé* was produced by Carpeaux as early as 1873. The sculptor used his son Charles as a model; Charles had injured himself on a train door during a trip. To comfort him, his mother gave him a dove, and the artist saw in this touching scene an allegory of a weeping Cupid. Our sculpture is one of the few known examples of this composition in plaster.
