Pair Of Wrought-iron Fire Pits, “flamme” Model, Art Deco, By Raymond Subes (1893–1970)

Artist: Raymond Subes (1893-1970)
Pair of andirons, “Flamme” model, made of wrought iron withside legs curved in an arc and a rear log rest bar; made in the workshopRaymond SUBES. These andirons “evoke thegreat French tradition of naturalistic ironwork—Émile Robert, EdgarBrandt, the iron lacework of historic French balconies—while remainingfirmly rooted in the modern mid-century aesthetic. Subes’s workspanned both the strictly geometric and the richly decorative, andthese andirons represent the latter tendency at itsmost accomplished. The quality of the ironwork—the precision of the twisting, theof the volutes at the base, the overall sense of technical mastery in theservice of expressive form—places this pair among the finestcreations of his long workshop career, during which he executedcommissions for the ocean liners Normandie and Île.”In good condition, with only a few signs of wear, which is normal for piecesoriginally intended for fireplaces. SHIPPING AVAILABLE: carefully reinforced packaging, sent by registered mail withsignature confirmation, insurance, and online tracking via the tracking number (flat-rate shipping fee).SAONE StoreANTIQUITES 149 rue de la Levée 01750 ST LAURENT SUR SAONE, 500 meters from MACON (71000), open Tuesday through Saturday 3:00 PM–7:00 PM and mornings 10:30 AM–12:30 PM.If you’recoming from far away, please call ahead ortext 06 13 21 81 09 tomake sure I’m at the store and not out on a call (estimate, delivery, family matters, etc.).
